SHTA Social Activities

1. SHTA Scholarship Fund for Earthquake Victim Children:

As part of SHTA community helping programs, we came up with the idea of creating a Scholarship Fund for the Earthquake Victim Children, and many of our supporters immediately liked the idea and started helping us to reach our goal by collecting funds. We recently visited the remote village called Ghairung of Gorkha District to distribute the Scholarship Fund to 20 children who were badly affected by the earthquake. Our agency contributed additional funds so that we were able to reach 6,000 Rs. per child to enable them to attend school and have their basic needs covered. The children were very appreciative and on their behalf we sincerely thank Everyone who has helped us to make this possible. There are still many other children we could help and if you would like to be part of this effort, please let us know.

2. Hormigas  En Nepal (SHTA community Helping Programme):

Ants Can Built NepalThe April 2015 Nepal earthquake killed more than 8,800 people and injured more than 23,000. It occurred at 11:56 NST on 25 April, with a magnitude of 7.8Mw. Its epicenter was on the North of the district of Gorkha called Barpak , and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 15 km. It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal earthquake.

The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing at least 19, making April 25, 2015 the deadliest day on the mountain in history. The earthquake triggered another huge avalanche in the Langtang valley, where 250 people were reported missing.

Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened, across many districts of the country. Centuries-old buildings were destroyed at UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including some at the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar Squar, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Changu Narayan Temple and the Swayambhunath Stupa. Geophysicists and other experts had warned for decades that Nepal was vulnerable to a deadly earthquake, particularly because of its geology, urbanization, and architecture.

As in past, SHTA is being involved in several society helping projects. Similarly, we are now responding to the needs of children and families affected by the devastating earthquake that hit the nation and the subsequent aftershocks. After completing our immediate relief project in several places, like Providing cash to several families being homeless to help them to prepare temporary shelters, deploying different foreign medical teams in remote areas, providing food and medical assistance to different families, providing support materials to different schools in some villages, now we are focusing in to serious re-construction works in one of the village (Lamagaun and Archale) in Dhading with the help of our friends from Mexico and some other countries. After visiting the site, we already have provided the first phase of support to 27 different families in the area and now into the preparation of the serious re-construction project with our common concept of “HORMIGAS EN NEPAL”. All helping hand are welcome to make this project happen again to bring smile to the people who have been hit badly by this terrifying earthquake. We will keep on updating you with our latest progress on the projects in this page or via our facebook page.

Safe Himalayan Travel and Adventure is not only a travel and tour company like many others. We are focused on what we do in this field and how we can take left behind and forgotten group of people in the society with us making them able to find their way to the main wing of the nation. So, we are very proud to work hard to promote tourism in a way to make something out of it to support the community in a way we can. For example: Initially We are working with MNCO, one of the Children Organization, to generate some help to support them for giving proper education to their Orphan kids.

Message from MNCO Chairman:

TO MY FRIENDS AND SUPPORTER (By Mr.Sandup lama (MNCO):

My life in Nepal has always predicated to be difficult yet I never gave up focusing my activities for the protection and promotion of orphans, abandoned, helpless, children in armed conflict, abuse and for their right. More then 10 years of experience working in different orphanages in Kathmandu as volunteer and my reputation for successfully aiding disadvantages Nepali children inspired me to open my own orphanage to help forgotten children of Nepal. It is like my dream came true. The biggest day of my life, on August 3, 2012, my wife furpu lama and I have successfully registered under the Nepal government, district administration office of Kathmandu (DA) No. 62 and is also affiliated with the social welfare council of Nepal (SWC) No. 35488. Our orphanage name is MANANG, NEPALI CHILDREN ORGANIZATION (MNCO). I IS LOCATED at Swayambhunath ( monkey temple) Ichangu, VDC-9 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Children living in desperate circumstances are everywhere in Nepal, visible and waiting. We don’t have to search hard to find these children. Many have been orphans, some were abandoned and others are worthy, bright young children unable to attend school because of poverty and inner conflict ( Maoist) in the country. I am grateful to report, however that MNCO have been providing care, food, shelter and schooling for 11 orphans, abandoned and helpless, children’s. Each of them share a background of extreme impoverishment and personal tragedy.

It is our commitment to continue to recue more helpless, children for their dire circumstances and educate them to their fullest capabilities. With support we can extend the helping hand so badly needed by these afflicted and innocent children. It is with the greatest sense of purpose that we continue with our missions and we remain eternally grateful for the financial help that makes our cause a reality. Contributions to MNCO go directly to aid , rescue and support the most destitute and damaged children in Nepal. No funds are spent for salaries, office rent, travel expenses, bonuses or special benefits.

A request: SPONSORS, DONARS AND HELPING HANDS ARE VERY WELCOME TO SPONSOR  OUR ORPHANAGE AND THE CHILDREN.

My mission is made easier by the relatively low cost of supporting children in Nepal. For less than $2.5 per day, $900 per year, MNCO arrange for a child’s education, food, shelter, healthy living environment, medical attention and needed cloths and materials. All sponsorship funding is for the direct support to the children in our care. MNCO also recognizes the importance of personal attention to each child, another deprivation that most of our children have suffered throughout their early years. Complaint and self-pity are unknowns to these young survivor and when a helping hand is given they hold on tightly. Our caring and supportive involvement with each life is taken to heart and the result are astonishing therefore I request you to step forward to give opportunity to these forgotten children for their education and road to independence!!
